Details: In 1835, Samuel Bewley and his son Charles Bewley imported nearly 3,000 chests of tea from China. It's doubtful that either Samuel or Charles foresaw the effect this beginning would have on the fabric of Dublin life. In 1840, the Bewley's company was formed. By 1870, Samuel's other sons, Joshua and Thomas, had expanded into sugar refining and bakery manufacturing as well. Then in 1893, Joshua's son Ernest introduced coffee to the Irish public. From his premises in central Dublin, he demonstrated the art of coffee making, whilst his wife prepared freshly baked scones. The rest is history. By 1927 Bewley's had grown to include cafes, shops, bakeries, and a handmade chocolate factory. Bewley's cafes became the place to meet, relax, enjoy good food, think, and write. Indeed, some of Ireland's most famous literary sons have succumbed to the lure of Bewley's legendary cafes. Brendan Behan, Patrick Kavanagh, and James Joyce among others have all enjoyed the hospitality that is Bewley's. This award-winning Irish Afternoon Tea is a blend of the finest Rwandan, Assam Indian, and East of the Rift Kenyan teas. A golden color tea that is brisk and very refreshing. A perfect afternoon pick up! * Contains 80 tea bags. * Gold Star at the Great Taste Awards in London! This winning tea also received a Bronze Medal in the 2012 Blas na hEireann, National Irish Food Awards. Everybody loves a winner!
